Single Lens 3D Technology

From 3D movies to 3D technologies on cell phones, televisions and video games are taking over the entertainment industry. There are limitations though, to 3D movies and entertainment and that typically comes in the form of having to wear 3D glasses to reap the full benefits of the technology.

How Light Microscopes Work

A light microscope works very much like a refracting telescope, but with some minor differences. A telescope must gather large amounts of light from a dim, distant object; therefore, it needs a large objective lens to gather as much light as possible and bring it to a bright focus.

Lens Technologies Trace their Roots to NASA's Shuttle Technologies

The NASA space program has had a hand in many great technological advances that we see today in many different applications. NASA has some of the brightest minds in the world working to achieve excellence with our space program and also new ideas and inventions.

The Use of Ultraviolet Imaging in Forensic Investigation

Ultraviolet imaging is the process of taking a photograph using only the light from the ultraviolet (UV) spectrum. In normal photography we are exposed to only the radiation spectrum which is visible to the human eye.

Miners Utilize X-Ray Technology to Detect Rare Diamonds

South Africa's JSE and Toronto based miner Rockwell have announced they will be utilizing a unique technology to assist in their diamond mining process. The two diamond powerhouses have identified their intent to use x-ray technology to detect and find rarer diamonds in their mines.

What is OCR?

When we get into image scanning lenses and image recognition technology we think of scanning documents or photos and converting them to digital form. This practice allows us to take something physical and digitize it in order to save it on a hard drive, post on a website, or share with friends through e-mail or a social media outlet.

Charge Coupled Device

CCD stands for charge-coupled device. These devices control the electrical charge within the device and direct it to an area where it can be manipulated.

High Speed Imaging

Hi-speed imaging is the process of taking pictures of very fast phenomena with a camera capable of capturing at least 128 frames per second. Hi-speed imaging can also be achieved using video.
